CM Concrete

Charles (Chuck) Joseph Melia Jr. was born in New York in 1957. Two years later, Chuck's family moved to California. At the age of 15, he became a concrete crew laborer for Shea Construction where he mainly worked on foundations and structural decks, and eventually adds stamped concrete to his growing knowledge. Chuck graduated from Newbury Park High School in 1975.

By 21, Chuck became a form-setter and apprentice finisher for J.A. Concrete, working on foundations, hardscapes and stamped concrete and began to learn how to read plans. By 24, Chuck found a place as a journeyman form-setter and finisher for Kenlite Concrete, overseeing foundations, hardscapes and curb gutter pours as the company foreman.

Eventually, Chuck moved onto his own small projects. In 1987, he received his contractor license and began assembling a workforce that would eventually grow into the 380+ employees that make up CM Concrete. As founder and President of CM Concrete, Chuck oversees all estimating and public relations.

When Chuck is not at work, he enjoys spending time with his family, his Church and his vintage cars. He has been married to his wife Kathy for 23 years and has two daughters, ages 19 and 21.
Joe Melia was born in Chatsworth, CA in 1965. He graduated from Westlake High School in 1983 and started his own detailing business while working with Chuck at J.A. Concrete.

In 1987, Joe joined Chuck at CM Concrete full time, and learned about foundations, flatwork and colored stamped concrete. When CM branched out into custom home foundations, Joe ran the field, and by 1990, Joe and Chuck became partners.

Between 1992-1994, CM started bidding commercial and production builders and brought masonry in-house instead of subcontracting it out. In turn, Joe took over field operations and maintained job schedules, growing the delivery of jobs from 1-2 a day to 4-7 a day.

Joe is married with three kids and resides with his family in Ventura, CA.
