Charles (Chuck) Joseph Melia Jr. and Joseph (Joe) Carl Melia were no strangers to concrete contracting in the humble beginnings of CM Concrete in 1985. Chuck started in the concrete business as a laborer at age 15. Joe's journey in concrete started at a the age of 17. During the initial two years, Chuck and Joe worked on small projects with the help of two employees.
1987 brought several additions to the brothers' new endeavor: a contractor license, one flatbed truck and eight field employees. During this time, the primary work was small driveways and commercial flatwork. 1990 brought 20 more employees to this quickly expanding concrete contracting company. In conjunction with the continued growth in commercial and residential flatwork projects, CM Concrete was building a reputation as the premier contractor for custom foundations.
By 1992 the company added a "B" contractor license to its previously existing "C-8" license status. By this time, CM Concrete had 60 employees and added structural masonry and masonry veneer work and small residential tract foundations to the workload.
Currently CM Concrete employees more than 380 people, working on custom homes, commercial projects and residential tract homes throughout the counties of Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles and Kern.
